Crime Victim Services (CVS) is a part of the social service agency, ElderServe, Inc.  The agency is a private, non-profit organization located in Louisville, KY that serves Jefferson County residents 60 years of age and older and has several programs:  In-home Services, Crime Victim Services, Social Services, Adult Day Care, and TeleCare.

Clients:  CVS works with older adults, 60 years of age and over, in Jefferson County who are victims of crime, including but not limited to crimes of financial exploitation, abuse, sexual abuse, domestic violence, robbery, burglary, and caregiver neglect.

Mission:  The mission of ElderServe's Crime Victim Services is to support older adults (60 years of age and over) in recovering from victimization, to increase access to the criminal justice system for older crime victims, and to increase awareness of elder abuse as a crime by providing court transportation, court advocacy, support services, crisis intervention, short-term emergency housing, and community outreach.

Emergency Services

  • Emergency housing up to 5 days

  • Assistance at Domestic Violence Hearings

 

Success:  In 2009, CVS provided 3,972 services to 1,169 clients.  For fiscal year 2010/11, it is projected that CVS will serve 1,250 clients.  There are no other programs in Jefferson County that specialize in supporting crime victims over 60 years of age.  CVS was awarded the 2007 Paul H. Chapman Award from the Foundation for Improvement of Justice, Inc. and in 2005 received the Best Practices Award from the Ohio Valley Appalachia Regional Geriatric Education Center.
