Our Programs and Services
- Senior Companion -The Senior Companion Program pairs
individuals 60 and over with seniors and other people who have
difficulty with daily living tasks. Through their assistance and
friendship, Senior Companions help others live independently in
their own homes rather than an institutional setting. Senior Companions
volunteer for 20 hours per week and become part of a team of caregivers.
In return, they receive a modest stipend plus meal and transportation
reimbursement, and oftentimes, friendships that lasts a lifetime.
For more information on Senior Companion, contact Program Director
Joanne Whitlock at 587-8673.
- TeleCare - TeleCare is a personal reassurance program
for those who need to stay in touch. On a daily basis, ElderServe's
TeleCare volunteers call elderly and homebound people. Volunteers
call every morning (8:30-11:00 AM), Monday through Friday, to
check on the well being of those in the program. If someone doesn't
answer, follow-up calls are made, and if necessary, the TeleCare
volunteer alerts neighbors, family, police and/or medical officials.
To be a client, the requirements are: (1) Client must want to
be called; (2) Client must be available/responsive to receive
a phone call between 8:30-11:00 AM; (3) Clients need a "contact"
person who keeps in touch on a regular basis; and (4) Clients
contact our home office when they know they will not be available
for their morning safety check. For more information, contact
Ranney Tucker at 587-8673.
